Looking at Properties
With your price range and priorities in order, Donna will work with you to look for a home. She'll start by running a search in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), using your price range and priorities as the main criteria. You also can look through the MLS on your own by visiting the MLS Access section of this site.
Some buyers enjoy driving through neighborhoods to see what’s available. Just jot down the address, give Donna a call, and she'll find out more about it in the MLS. After you find properties of interest, Donna will set up appointments and go with you to see if any of them are the right home for you.
Tips for a Successful Search
Below are some tips to help you during the search:
- Stay focused on your needs, desires, and budget as you look at homes. It’s easy to get off track and feel overwhelmed by the number and variety of available homes.
- Let Donna know if your original timeline, budget or criteria change so that she can alter the search accordingly.
- Maintain a file of your search and comments on each property. Often, you forget why you did or did not like a home – particularly if you look at a lot of homes during your search.
- Alert Donna to any home that interests you, including any you find on your own.
- If you like to look around on your own, request a list of drive-bys, which you can view from the outside first. Then, Donna can arrange tours of those that appeal to you.
- Share your opinion of each home with Donna and keep the lines of communication open.
- Let Donna know immediately when you have found a property you like and are ready to make an offer.
